Panel Wipe and Prep Spray Questions

  • Stripping oils, polishing residue and fillers off the paint before you wax, seal or coat. It gives you a truly bare surface so the protection bonds instead of sitting on leftover product.

  • For a coating, yes. It bonds to bare paint, and any oil or polish residue left behind weakens it. A panel wipe before coating is the step people skip and regret.

  • A dedicated panel wipe is the reliable choice, formulated to clean without leaving residue. Diluted IPA can work but is easy to get wrong. If you are coating, use a proper prep spray.
