Detailing Accessory Questions

  • Long and soft for wheel faces and barrels, short and firm for tyres and arches, fine and soft for badges, grilles and panel gaps, and a separate set for the interior. Colour code them or you will end up cleaning a dashboard with the tyre brush. Rinse them out at the end of a job rather than at the start of the next one.

  • A foam block for wax and sealant, because it holds product and spreads it thin. A suede or microfibre applicator over a block for a coating, because a coating has to go down evenly and come off on time. Coating applicators are single use in practice: once product has cured in the cloth it is finished.

  • Solvent based products will, and a trigger failing halfway through a job is a mess you do not want. Match the bottle to what goes in it, keep one bottle per product, and label it. Rinse a bottle out before you put something different in it: two chemicals meeting in the dip tube is how you ruin both.
